GREENPOINT โ€” Brooklyn's northernmost neighborhood will get 30 new electric vehicle charging stalls as part of aย $60 million deal to accelerate the expansion of EV infrastructure deployment in New York City, Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Monday.

NY Green Bank โ€” the stateโ€™s clean energy investment fund and a division of the state Energy Research and Development Authority โ€” has finalized a loan to Revel, the cityโ€™s largest provider of public EV fast-charging. The project will more than triple the companyโ€™s NYC charger network within the year.

This represents the bankโ€™s first EV charging infrastructure transaction. The stateโ€™s goal is for investments in clean transportation to help reduce emissions by expanding the infrastructure necessary for wider EV adoption.

This funding will build 267 new chargers across nine sites, and supports the intricate designing and building process. Revel will complete construction of the new sites by 2027.

Queens will get the largest number of new charging stalls, with 60 stalls in Maspeth, making it the largest fast-charging station in the Northeast U.S. An additional 44 charging stalls will be installed near LaGuardia Airport, and 24 at John F. Kennedy Airport in southern Queens, near the Nassau County line.
