A Bluedot Favorite Watch: ‘Climate Town’

Category:

“I stumbled across this YouTube series called Climate Town,” says Bluedot’s Senior Editorial Consultant Leslie Garrett. “Think Schoolhouse Rock with swearing,” she says. Leslie discovered Climate Town during the heated debate over gas stoves when a friend sent her the video. But she’s equally enamored, amused, and informed by the video on fast fashion. It’s the creation of Rollie Williams, a climate comedian (yes, that’s a thing, he insists) whose MO is to get people more comfortable talking about climate issues. “It’s not about winning arguments,” Leslie says, “it’s about starting conversations from the point of view that we all care what happens to our planet and the people and species we share it with. How I’m describing it is way more earnest than the tone of the videos, and that’s their charm,” she continues. “I can still recite a whole lot of Schoolhouse Rock songs and I’m not even American. Climate Town is equally adept at sneaking in important information while amusing us.”
