  1. Choose your bowl’s “base” ingredient: greens (kale, spinach, arugula), grains (quinoa, rice, oats), noodles/pasta (soba, rice noodles, lentil pasta), roasted veggies, cauliflower rice, potatoes (any type), or broth for soup.
What’s in this bowl? Cauliflower rice.
  2. Pick your plant proteins: tofu, tempeh, beans, lentils, edamame, nuts, or seeds.
What’s in this bowl? Baked tofu and black beans.
  3. Add a variety of veggies: 2–3 raw or cooked veggies such as broccoli, carrots, snow peas, asparagus, mushrooms, onions, brussels sprouts, zucchini, tomatoes — different colors maximize nutrients. Get creative and seasonal!
What’s in this bowl? Bell peppers and onions.
  4. Fit in a bit of fat: avocado, nuts and seeds (whole or butters), olives, tahini, or a drizzle of oil like olive oil or sesame oil. A bit of fat adds depth, flavor, and increases satiety.
    What’s in this bowl? Avocado
  5. Get saucy with sauces: vinaigrette, pesto, hummus, green goddess, honey mustard, or salsa.
What’s in this bowl? Salsa verde.
  6. Add flavor boosters: fresh herbs, spices, a squeeze of citrus, pickled veggies, crunchy toppings (nuts, seeds, granulated garlic, dukkah), and specialty ingredients like miso paste or gochujang.
What’s in this bowl? Cooked with paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and ground cumin; topped with fresh cilantro, green onions, and lime wedges.
