Channel Islands Restoration is a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and restoring the unique ecosystems of the California Channel Islands and the adjacent mainland. Our mission is simple yet vital: to safeguard rare and endangered plants and animals by restoring the habitats they depend on for survival. Volunteers are at the heart of our efforts.

We host around six to eight events every month in spectacular natural settings, from the rugged beauty of the Channel Islands, local preserves, and land trusts to the Santa Clara River watersheds and the pristine rivers of the Los Padres Forest.

By removing invasive species and planting thousands of native plants in these spaces and helping to monitor the progress of long-term restoration projects, like our Elings Park Transformation Project in collaboration with Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, our volunteers make a tangible difference.

Thanks to their support, and the support of our partners, we’ve been able to expand our efforts to a 21,000-square-foot native plant nursery in Goleta. During our nursery days, volunteers help us clear out weeds and make way for native seedlings that will eventually be planted across our restoration sites.

Channel Islands Restoration is more than an organization — it’s a movement to preserve the natural heritage of California’s Central Coast. Join us in this mission. Together, we can ensure that these unique habitats thrive for generations to come. Learn more and sign up for volunteer opportunities at CIRWEB.org
