Incentive programs offered by The City of Toronto include two popular residential energy retrofits: air source heat pumps and rooftop solar PV. Both incentives are available through the cityโs Home Energy Loan Program (HELP).
Donโt delay. Funding will be discontinued when the allocation limit has been reached. Hereโs a list of financial incentives plus those unavoidable terms and conditions.
Still interested? Your next steps are to start the application process and book a home energy assessment with an Energy Advisor registered by Natural Resources Canada. A certified advisor can help you navigate the process and advise on the program. In the meantime, hereโs a quick rundown of the retrofits the city is encouraging:
Air-Source Heat Pumps
A cost-saving and energy-efficient option for homeowners, heat pumps act as both heaters and air conditioners, replacing conventional heating and cooling systems. In the summer, they draw warm air from inside and expel it outside. In the winter, they bring in heat from outside (yes, there is energy even in cold air). Solar Solutions
You can see the benefit of adding solar power to your property by inputting your address to the Cityโs very fun interactive SolarTO Map. Watch the map zero in on your rooftop and calculate an estimate of your system installation cost, first year bill savings, 25-year bill savings, and the period after which you start seeing payback.
