Climate Quick Tip: Be Water Wise When Washing Dishes

Handwashing dishes is not as energy efficient as a dishwasher. But if handwashing is your only option, here are tips to boost your efficiency:

    • Use hot water and soap in one sink and only fill up as much as you need.
    • Rinse using cool/cold water in a separate sink or tub
    • DONโ€™T run the water while washing, which uses 2 to 5 gallons of water per minute. (Dishwashers use 6 gallons on average for the entire cycle.)

If a dishwasher is available, itโ€™s the eco-friendly choice.
