Dear Dot: Is parchment paper reusable?

Dear Dot,

I’ve been doing a lot of holiday baking. Can I reuse or recycle my parchment paper?

–Nancy

Dear Nancy,

As long as there’s no discoloration, feel free to reuse your parchment paper a few times. While most parchment paper is not recyclable (it has a non-recyclable coating and typically will have grease/food stains), the brand If You Care is compostable and FSC-certified (a highly reputable certification program related to wood and paper products). But, as almost always, the most eco-minded choice is the reusable one, which means a silicone baking sheet is your greenest choice.
