Ten artists will team up with expert sculptors to carve ice creations live at the Governors Island Ice Sculpture Show on Feb. 8. The event offers a look at the ice-carving process and culminates in an awards ceremony where one team will be crowned the winner.
The festival also includes public ice-carving workshops, craft stations by the Red Hook Art Project, and performances from the Illustrious Blacks DJ duo and the Fogo Azul drumline. Food vendors Makina Café, Nao Caribbean Flavors, The Original Soupman, and Deploy Coffee will provide refreshments.
Presented by Governors Island Arts, the event is free and open to the public and will run from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. No tickets are required.
