PROSPECT PARK — PARK OFFICIALS AND SUPPORTERS cut the ribbon on Friday to officially celebrate Prospect Park Alliance’s completion of the park’s restored Garfield Entrance pedestrian path, along with the rustic rail paths that lead to Park Drive and Long Meadow from Prospect Park West. The $1 million restoration was completed ahead of schedule and funded by state Assemblymember Robert Carroll, will provide an accessible route for visitors and address the erosion that has occurred due to heavy use of this popular entrance. The project also provides improved stormwater drainage to help protect the landscape.
“I was extremely pleased to be able to direct $1 million in state funding for the renovation of the Garfield entrance paths and the Meadowport-Endale path, and it is wonderful to see these projects completed while there is still so much summer left to enjoy,” Carroll said in a release, adding, “I want to thank Morgan Monaco and the Prospect Park Alliance for their ongoing stewardship of the Park, which is such an essential part of the life of my district and all of Brooklyn.”
