A quick Q&A spotlighting island changemakers sharing what inspires them and what’s on their plate. Stay tuned for more in the upcoming weeks.
From Will Kinsella, ACKlimate Chair.
Bluedot Living: What’s your favorite trail on the island?
WK: My favorite hike on Nantucket combines a few interconnected trails (and more than a few unique ecosystems) in the Middle Moors on both Nantucket Conservation Foundation and Land Bank properties. I start at NCF’s Leedsmoor-Beechwood Loop entrance at 257 Polpis Rd., south through Leedsmoor I head east through the Land Bank’s Beechwood Farm, hop across Almanac Pond Road onto NCF’s Stump Swamp Meander to the Stump Pond and Windswept Woods Loops, and finish at the recently restored Windswept Bog.
Bluedot Living: What’s your favorite view?
WK: My favorite view is atop the First Congregational Church Tower.
Bluedot Living: What’s the most delicious locally sourced bite you’ve had in the past month?
WK: My most locally sourced delicious meal came from my garden (kudos to Island Harvest Vegetable Gardens); a spezzatino with backyard carrots, onions, leeks, garlic and herbs, sautéed spinach and red-leafed salad.
Bluedot Living: What’s a recent or upcoming project, program, or event you’re excited about?
WK: I’m really excited about the Nantucket Conservation Foundation’s Milestone Center! It’ll be a world class research and education center, largely hidden from view, providing housing and a much needed native plant propagation facility.
