A quick Q&A spotlighting island changemakers sharing what inspires them and what’s on their plate. Stay tuned for more in the upcoming weeks.

Posie Constable, Managing Director of Sustainable Nantucket.

Bluedot Living: What’s your favorite trail on the island?

Posie Constable: I love to ride my bike to the top of Altar Rock, any time of the year, for the 360 degree view.

    BL: What’s your favorite view?

PC: But my favorite view is from the East Side of Clark’s Cove looking west, especially at sunset.

BL: What’s the most delicious locally sourced bite you’ve had in the past month?

PC: It’s family scalloping season now so hands down, scallop ceviche. Also, carrot souffle from Fogtown Farm or Washashore Farm carrots!

BL: What’s a recent or upcoming project, program, or event you’re excited about?

    PC: Never just one!

Finally getting a slaughter workshop on the calendar to enable island meat bird farmers to process their own birds with our Mobile Poultry Processing equipment to provide fresh protein to the island.

Kicking off a deep dive into our island’s food resiliency using the CARAT (Community Agriculture Resilience Audit Tool) program along with Nourish Nantucket and the Marion Institute to identify Nantucket’s gaps, which will be combined with results from five other Southeast Massachusetts counties: Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, Norfolk, and Plymouth — gaining insight into our communal foodshed.
