Juniper Ridge crafts home scents, body products, and teas inspired by the wild beauty of the American West. The Oakland-based brand forages and sustainably harvests wild plants before using steam distillation to capture these plants’ incredible essences in scents. Founder and self-proclaimed nature freak Hall Newbegin shares that he started Juniper Ridge because “I wanted to make fragrances that smelled like the outdoors, like the real places that I knew and loved as a hiker…The subtle aromas you pick up when you’re on the trail are so incredibly evocative — they sink in deep and take you away to the stillness of the outdoors.”

Juniper Ridge feels rooted in a love for the outdoors. It makes everyday scents feel like a trip into ancient forests, deserts, or coastlines. Through steam distillation of 100% natural, plant-based ingredients, Juniper Ridge captures authentic fragrances that are free from synthetic perfumes, parabens, phthalates, dyes, and preservatives. Every Juniper Ridge product is stamped with a harvest number, indicating the vintage of the fragrance. Like wine, their fragrances will vary from year-to-year depending on rainfall, temperature, and harvesting locations. 

From essential oils and incense to body wash and cologne, sustainability is at the core of Juniper Ridge’s mission. The brand also uses upcycled Christmas trees for its seasonal Fir Collection. Each year they transform up to 7,000 trees into essential oils, diverting them from landfills. To support this effort, Juniper Ridge donates 10% of its profits annually to the Western Wilderness Defense Fund.
