Guppyfriend Washing Bag

According to our own Dear Dot, microplastics kill about 100,000 marine mammals and one million seabirds every year. One of the primary ways that plastics get into our water is through laundry, and one of the best ways to help stop the cycle is by using a device designed to trap microplastic particles before they leave the washer. Several of us at Bluedot use the Guppyfriend, a transparent, zip-up bag that goes directly in the laundry machine and reduces the number of microplastics shed by synthetic clothing by at least 50%. Because the bag reduces fiber breakage, it can also help extend the life of your clothes: a nice bonus. We always recommend washing clothes in cold water to dramatically reduce the number of microplastics shed.
