    A Look Back at the Ventura County Floods

    Heavy flooding in Ventura County, CA, caused millions of dollars in damages and left many without a home. Bluedot Institute student Simone McGraw conducted a research project illustrating what is (and isn’t) being done to combat climate change and flooding in her town. She explores the contrasting experiences of people living in marginalized communities  versus those in wealthier communities, and how preventative measures are often taken only in places with the most resources. 

    “California has faced the brunt of a lot of these storms, and living in a very isolated, privileged campus illustrates a stark difference between how we are able to adapt versus how surrounding communities are able to adapt that don’t have resources like our school’s. The impact has been harsh.”
