Kind Traveler
The premise of Kind Traveler is simple: receive perks and discounts at hotels by making a donation of at least $10 to a vetted charity. You can choose a charity near your travel destination, or choose one that speaks to you. All of the charities focus on at least one of the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development, and 100% of the donations go to your chosen charity. Kind Traveler, a 1% for the Planet member, has a growing portfolio of over 150 hotels in 22 countries and sends donations to over 150 location-specific charities. Donations made to book an eco-resort in Belize go to a wildlife rescue group. A Sonoma County lodge is linked to a local food pantry. A Portuguese hotel is connected with a childhood literacy organization. The hotels vary widely in price (in early 2023, we saw prices from $115 to well over $2,000 a night).
