Starbucks France Drops the Vegan Upcharge

Plant-based milk helps consumers limit their environmental impact — but the upcharge for these alternatives could make some coffee-drinkers think twice. Starbucks France is making this choice a bit easier through its pledge to stop charging extra for oat, almond, soy, or coconut milk. The company made the announcement back in March, joining locations in the UK, China, and India offering dairy alternatives at no extra charge. The franchise’s US stores and many locations around the world, however, still charge up to 80 cents extra for plant-based milk. In the wake of the good news about Starbucks France, PETA is campaigning to end the vegan upcharge in all of the company’s locations.
